What it is, and what it is for
The Growatt SPH 11500TL-HU-US is a 11.5kW 120/240V split-phase hybrid solar inverter for residential solar, low-voltage battery storage and backup power in the United States. Build a residential solar and battery backup system around an 11.5kW inverter with room for up to 23kW of recommended PV capacity. Three independent MPPT trackers support flexible solar-array design, while DC-coupled, AC-coupled and AC-retrofit applications provide options for new systems and storage upgrades.

Solar storage and home backup
Use the SPH 11500TL-HU-US to manage energy from solar panels, compatible batteries, the utility grid and a compatible generator. The datasheet lists a maximum grid passthrough current of 200A. Passthrough current is separate from the inverter's 11.5kW output rating; battery capacity, battery current limits and connected loads determine available backup power and runtime.
Lithium and lead-acid battery types are listed. Confirm the exact battery model against Growatt's approved battery list, including CAN/RS485 communication and current requirements. The inverter is sold separately from batteries, solar panels and installation services unless explicitly included in your order.

Protection and installation
The IP65 enclosure includes Type II surge protection on the DC and AC sides. The datasheet also lists AFCI, anti-islanding, ground-fault, insulation-resistance and residual-current monitoring protections. Rated operating temperature is -25°C to 60°C, with power derating above 45°C.
System design must follow the current installation manual and applicable electrical requirements. Confirm local utility interconnection acceptance, equipment approvals, battery compatibility and site conditions before installation. The supplied datasheet lists UL1741, UL1741SA/SB, CSA C22.2 and other standards; it does not establish approval for every US installation.
Frequently asked questions
Does this inverter provide 120/240V split-phase power?
Yes. The datasheet lists 120/240V split-phase output and also lists 120/208V operation for supported configurations. Confirm the intended configuration during system design.
How much solar can I connect?
The maximum recommended PV array is 23,000W at STC. Each MPPT is limited to 12,000W, 40A input current and 50A short-circuit current. Array voltage must remain within the manufacturer's specified operating range and 550V absolute maximum.
Does 11.5kW describe battery capacity?
No. 11.5kW is the rated power output. Battery energy is measured in kWh and is selected separately to meet your desired backup runtime.
What is the warranty?
The supplied Growatt SPH 9600–18000TL-HU-US datasheet specifies a 10-year warranty. Coverage is subject to the manufacturer's applicable warranty terms.
