What it is, and what it is for
Growatt Partial Home Backup Power System
A hybrid inverter, a high-voltage battery and an automatic transfer switch, supplied as one matched system. It stores solar or off-peak grid energy and carries your essential circuits through an outage, then returns to normal when the grid comes back. Pick the inverter that suits your service and your loads.
What's included:
- A Growatt MIN hybrid inverter — the MIN 3800TL-XH-US (3.8 kW) or the MIN 6000TL-XH-US (6 kW), depending on the option you choose
- Growatt APX high-voltage LFP battery — 5 kWh, or 10 kWh on the double-battery option
- Growatt ATS-XH-US 11.4 kW backup box, with a built-in split-phase transformer for 120/240 V output
- Growatt smart meter
Solar panels are not included. This is a storage and backup system, not a solar kit. It works with an array you already have, or panels can be bought separately and sized to whichever inverter you choose — ask us and we will work out how many you need.
Which inverter:
- MIN 3800TL-XH-US — 3.8 kW. 7.6 kW of PV across 2 MPP trackers, 16 A maximum output, up to 98% peak efficiency. The sensible choice for a smaller service or a modest essentials panel.
- MIN 6000TL-XH-US — 6 kW. 12 kW of PV across 3 MPP trackers, 25 A maximum output, up to 98.4% maximum efficiency. Choose this if you have a larger array in mind, or heavier backed-up loads.

- Self-consumption: store energy when it is cheap or plentiful, use it at peak.

Is the racking or mounting hardware included?
No. Rails, roof hooks, ground-mount posts and clamps depend on the roof or ground they go on, so no system ships with them. They are sold separately. The finder adds the right pack for your surface when it sizes a system, or ask us and we will match one to your roof.
Can I install it myself?
The equipment ships ready to connect, but the AC side, the grounding and any connection to the grid must be done by a licensed electrician. A grid-tied or hybrid system also needs a permit and your utility's interconnection approval before it is switched on. The wiring diagram and commissioning record we publish are for reference; they are not a stamped design, and a professional engineer's review is required where your jurisdiction calls for one.
Are the solar panels included?
Where the title names an array — “7.04 kW panels”, say — the panels are in the box and appear under What ships. A backup system whose title names no array, such as the Growatt whole-home and partial-home backup systems, is the inverter and battery only, and its listing says so. Panels for those are sold separately.
What is the difference between off-grid, grid-tie and hybrid?
An off-grid system has no utility connection: the battery carries the night and the generator input carries the dark days. A grid-tie system has no battery: it feeds your panel and the grid by day and goes dark in an outage. A hybrid system does both — it works with the grid and keeps a battery, and with its transfer switch it carries your essential circuits through an outage.
Which tax credits and incentives apply?
The 30% federal residential credit ended on 31 December 2025, and nothing on this page assumes it. Some states still run their own credits, sales-tax exemptions or generation payments; the savings estimate above lists the ones we know of for your state, and our tax credit guide explains what applies in 2026.
Can I charge from a generator?
Most off-grid inverters in the range have a generator input for charging on dark days; the specification table says whether this one does and at what current. A grid-tie inverter has no generator input. A hybrid system takes a generator through its transfer switch, if your electrician wires one in.
What if I'm not sure this is the right product?
